Seedlings Growing Very Slow.

I have 5 seedlings of Red Dragon from Barney's Farm, they sprouted and had healthy tap roots in less than 48 hours, I transferred them to solo cups with plenty of drainage holes and fox farm soil. They seemed to take off so fast, and now in the last week they have slowed down there super fast development. And the cotyledons are yellowing a bit. What do I do??!??

HF was more often too hot than not for me so I gave up on it totally. I pro mix and fish in veg, and add organicare twice in flower for a perfect finish every time.

I'd wash that dirt away and exchange it carefully with some pro mix, less water maybe.

 

btw....those red dragons remain one of the most brain active strains I ever experienced, overandovereven. its small, doesn't yield much, and a perfect head stash. whatever you can do to save them its worth it.

For seedlings, I was advised to use Promix and feed with Clonex. No fertilizer until they have their first set of true leaves and then gradually increase feeding. Works great.

 

A seed developer who used to post on here claims that most people overfeed.

 

I also add Botanicare Liquid Karma along with the Clonex. Just these two nutrients are all the seedlings (and clones) need for about 10 days to two weeks. It all depends on how well the plants look. If they aren't green enough I feed them.

 

The importance of soil and water pH cannot be over emphasized. Test the runoff and adjust water to bring soil into pH 6-7 range. Very important. Also, the soil must be allowed to dry out between waterings.

 

The best plants I ever grew were grown in Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil. Didn't have to add nutrients until 5-6 weeks in. Very easy to grow in.

you can flush, and hope it takes away most of the ferts...

 

but seedlings are so delicate, it might kill them, or they might be dead already. or maybe just need 2 weeks to chill out. its hard to tell...

Thanks for the help(grass, Amish) I don't have the extra cash to go buy a block of Promix. What other budget minded steps could I take to ensure my baby red dragons live???

Any other "red dragon" specific pointers you can throw my way grass?

I haven't given them anything besides ph balanced R/O water. So I'm assuming that if there is too many nutrients, it's what came in the happy frog.

Right on

Any starter soil will have enough nutes till transplant. In a coffee cup that's about 7 days for a happy plant.

Humid environment and warm soil temp simulates springtime. Them beans / roots can't help themselves but explode.

Avoid over water or poor drainage, either will stunt growth,

Thanks for the help everybody, I can't figure out if they are over or under fertilized. I thought about doing the flush like T suggested, but if they are already in a poor state I don't want the flush to kill them.

Could they have used all the nutes in the solo cups of happy frog they are in?

How long have they been in? It doesn't matter, no way seedling went through all the nutes in happy frog.

 

I'd suggest you get some sunshine advanced #4 if you don't want to mess with feeding babies. There's just enough juice for about two weeks.

It's the RO water and the hot soil. Check your runoff ph I bet it's low. RO WATERS ph is easily changed dramatically by fertilizers in the soil.

T-Pain, they are about 2in tall, all have there first set of true leaves and all have second sets at some point of development.

 

Free420country-I gave them a drink earlier, as soon as they're dry again, I'll give em a good watering and test the PH of the run off.

 

They were popped/sprouted on Sunday October 25th, so they will be three weeks old this coming Sunday.

Pull them out of the ocean forest and put them in fox farms light warrior they will die in that OF  soil way too hot for seedlings and clones another thing you have to add things to reverse osmosis water like calcium that could also be your issue .

Yes it is what I would do is slide them out of the HF  and buy a bag of light warrior and give them only water for the first couple waterings then 1/4 strength nutrients  thereafter once you get a good root ball they can survive in the nutrient ready soils .

I can't make the GS tonight, they close in six mins, but I'll be there first thing tomorrow. What else can I use besides light warrior? My usual shop doesn't stock it.

Im sure they will have a seed starting mix and if they carry ocean forest and Happy frog id bet dollars to donuts they also have Light warrior.

I'm sure they don't have LW, the store is 1/2 the size of a 7-11, I'll get some starting mix tomorrow.

what light do you have on them? how wet is the soil right now? stick your finger in there and check.

I have a 6 bulb T-5 over them, 3 bulbs are 6400k agrobrite, the other three are Hortilux powerveg.

I just checked the soil, it's pretty moist but not wet, but I did just water them earlier today. I'll try and get a few pics up.
