A four-month long investigation and many tips led the Traverse Narcotics Team to raid four dispensaries in Kalkaska County.

TNT, along with several other law enforcement agencies, to seize evidence at the four dispensaries Monday afternoon.

In August, detectives were tipped off that dispensaries were operating outside of Michigan's Medical Marijuana Act guidelines.

Their investigation led them to two dispensaries in the Village of Kalkaska, one in Clearwater Township and another in Rapid River Township.

They seized marijuana, records, cash and other forms of marijuana.

“Obviously if it's a medical facility, and there's people that truly need the medical aspect of it, we just need them to be in compliance,” says Sgt. Glenn Artress, Kalkaska Department of Public Safety.

Their investigation also led to two other searches at homes and three more search warrants at local banks.

No arrests were made.

The report now goes to the prosecutor for review.

I love how they are always tipped off. Its not hard to find a dispensery lol a quick google search will show where they are all at. And why does it take 4 months to do a investigation they are open 7 days a week people in and out all day. Talk about milkin the money. I wonder how much money was funded to do something like that.

I don't understand why they are not making fake prescriptions, filling them at a pharmacy, then raiding the pharmacy. Seems like they could make millions that way.

The difference is; The pharmacy bought their drugs on the legal market and they nark out doctors writing a lot of questionable prescriptions.

And a dispensary is just supposed to be caregivers servicing their five patients connected by the registry.

^^^ Keep that part in mind .......

A huge bust at multiple marijuana dispensaries in Kalkaska County has led to several arrests.

The Traverse Narcotics Team says they started investigating the dispensaries five months ago.

TNT issued eight arrest warrants and arrested five of the suspects they were looking for.

Five months ago, several dispensaries in Kalkaska County were raided, and arrests were finally made Wednesday.

Back in December, we reported the Traverse Narcotics Team searched four dispensaries after receiving tips about operating outside of state medical marijuana laws.

No arrests were made.

During a press conference Thursday, the Traverse Narcotics Team confirmed five people were arrested on drug related charges on Wednesday.

Three more are pending.

The charges include criminal enterprise, manufacturing and delivery of marijuana, maintaining a drug house, racketeering and other drug-related charges.

The agencies that worked Thursday say these arrests show the hard work they put it to send a strong message.

“Those operating outside the guideline, they are well aware now that we are paying attention. We're focused on the meth and heroine, but we will not turn a blind eye to those who choose not to comply with the law,” says Lt. Josh Lator, Michigan State Police.

The people facing charges will be in court Thursday afternoon.

We'll have more on these arrests throughout the day, on air and online.
