America At Its Best!

America? That was just a bad cop caught on camera. Trying to make a scheduled donut break. The America I love is the one where we catch him on camera. Land of the free and the home of a billion cameras coming to our rescue.

The officer certainly shares some reponsibility for what happened here.  Ultimatley it is the Medical Facilitys' duty to insure that she was ready to be discharged. Most of time when a patient has been admitted to a hospital on an emergency situation, when ready to be discharged they are forced to sit in a wheel chair and be escorted to the door by an orderly where you would usually be turned over to someone like a family member.  I have never seen a patient being arrested for not leaving a hospital. The times they are a changin' ?  I guess...

All they were interested in is collecting their Medicaid Payment for whatever services were provided, which ironically appear to have been basically a denial of service. For that they would have billed Medicaid at least $2,000. Guess who is ultimately is on the hook for that one?

Imho behind the scene the most culpable person is the Gov of Florida. Check out his specs, he's a vulture capitalist and is/was heavily involved in health care: Rick Scott. The hospital group where he was Chairman and CEO was involved in several fraud scandals. Just last year he sued CMS (scroll down to... "Fl gov sues CMS"), then dropped the suit but not before he put Florida residents on the hook for $175,000.

...re: 'The County Record'

" The medical professionals that responded to Ms. Dawson in the Calhoun-Liberty Hospital parking lot included the following: registered nurses, a paramedic, and a doctor. Upon the arrival of the various medical professionals, the officer deferred to the professional training and expertise of the summoned medical professionals to evaluate and assess Ms. Dawson’s need for medical intervention. "

"Any action by the law enforcement officer usurping and/or interfering with the medical professionals’ expertise, knowledge and advice, either upon Ms. Dawson’s discharge from Calhoun-Liberty Hospital (after approximately eight (8) hours of evaluation and treatment by medical professionals) or subsequently in the Calhoun-Liberty Hospital parking lot following her collapse, would have been reckless. "

“If they bring her some medicine, she wants to know what it is, what it is for. They just get mad at her,”

How dare she question the all knowing doctors, that must be deserving of a death sentence.

There is no feeling worse than being unable to breath. They should make all of those involved sit with a plastic bag over their heads for a few minutes so they know how this woman felt.

I had a nurse tell me that when she was in school they had the nursing students breath through a cocktail straw through the entire lecture so they could see what diminished lung capacity was like.

Swine.
