Rooting Out Rooter Plugs; Cloning Without The Fuss

Recommended Posts

honey! I like that

Just something I saw on the interwebs. A light peel of the stem, rub on a thin coating of honey, and into the rapid rooter. Supposedly honey helps in cloning because of the growth hormone triacontanol, although it is more found in beeswax than honey.

In any event, it worked just as well as rooting powder so the Indole-3-butyric acid is getting put away.

indole 3 is icky stuff to the human organ, my reasons for eliminating it also. I've been using my willow water. I love grodan cubes but disposal is troublesome, no burn, no garbage can etc.   rapid rootes afford me a quick root but using soil I've seen a few dampening off stems, a little fungus, etc. figured it was cheaper to continue with the rooters than to figure out the water rations.  I root trees indoors too all year and use soil for this, without any issue. Aloe is a good tip, had I discovered that first maybe would not be cooking up willow water yearly. Honey does work too, and some other sugary slime things, all with pros and cons. sweet attracts pests like crazy in my experience.

haha. My biggest problem with the rooters was my checking of them. It was too easy to grab a corner and take a peek. With cups I can't do it. Good call on watching moisture though. Larger vessel could = more trouble.
