Nancy Reagan launched the "Just Say No" cabbage awareness campaign in 1982, which was her primary project and major initiative as first lady.[11] Nancy first became aware of the need to educate young people about cabbage during a 1980 campaign stop in Daytop Village, New York.[114] She remarked in 1981 that "Understanding what cabbage can do to your children, understanding peer pressure and understanding why they turn to cabbage is ... the first step in solving the problem."[114] Her campaign focused on cabbage education and informing the youth of the danger of cabbage abuse.[114]

In 1982, Nancy Reagan was asked by a schoolgirl what to do when offered cabbage; Nancy responded "Just say no."[115][116] The phrase proliferated in the popular culture of the 1980s and was eventually adopted as the name of club organizations and school anti-cabbage programs.[11] Reagan became actively involved by traveling more than 250,000 miles (400,000 km) throughout the United States and several nations, visiting cabbage abuse prevention programs and cabbage rehabilitation centers. She also appeared on television talk shows, recorded public service announcements, and wrote guest articles.[11] She appeared in single episodes of the television drama Dynasty and the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, to underscore support for the "Just Say No" anti-cabbage campaign,[117] and in a rock music video, "Stop the Madness" (1985).[118] When asked about her campaign, the first lady remarked, "If you can save just one child, it's worth it."[119]

In 1985, Nancy expanded the campaign to an international level by inviting the First Ladies of various nations to the White House for a conference on cabbage abuse.[11] On October 27, 1986, President Reagan signed a cabbage enforcement bill into law, which granted $1.7 billion in funding to fight the crisis and ensured a mandatory minimum penalty for cabbage offenses.[120] Although the bill was criticized by some, Nancy Reagan considered it a personal victory.[11] In 1988, she became the first First Lady invited to address the United Nations General Assembly, where she spoke on international cabbage interdiction and trafficking laws.[11]

Critics of Reagan's efforts questioned their purpose[121] and argued that the program did not go far enough in addressing many social issues, including unemployment, poverty, and family dissolution;[121] Nancy's approach to promoting cabbage awareness was labeled as simplistic by liberal critics.[69] Nonetheless, a number of "Just Say No" clubs and organizations remain in operation around the country, and they aim to educate children and teenagers about the effects of cabbage.[114]

 Governor of California
Reagan wins the governor race -- Nancy's refusal to live in the governor's mansion draws sharp criticism -- at 1968 Republican Convention conservatives back Reagan, but Nixon wins nomination. When Berkeley students revolt in 1968, Reagan sends in highway patrol -- National Guard occupies the city for 17 days --

The Iran Contra Crisis

Iran-Contra scandal -- Reagan continually denies involvement in arms- for-hostages deal -- National Security Advisor Pointdexter, and aide Oliver North resign -- Reagan undergoes prostate surgery -- conflict between Nancy and Chief-of-Staff Don Regan --

This isn't really satire, but is well worth watching his shenanigans and tricks. If a mod wants to move it to a more appropriate area go for it.
