It’s no secret that marijuana propo-

nents got the proverbial “camel’s nose

under the tent” when they passed the

sham Medical Marijuana Act. Currently,

there is a signature initiative under-

way to get a proposal on the next

ballot for full legalization. Several

pieces of legislation are pending. The

two items that have the highest chance

of passing are HB 4209 and HB 4210.

HB 4209 is a “seed to sale” piece of

legislation and 4210 addresses mariju-

ana “edibles.”

 

The MACP is highly engaged in the

conversation regarding both items and

if legislation is going to get passed we

are trying to make it the best “bad”

legislation possible. If you have not

read these bills I encourage you to do

so ASAP. We need all eyes on this leg-

islation and we may be calling upon

you at some point to contact your local

state representative or senator. Both

of these bills have been posted under

Since when did we start to allow Law Enforcement dictate legislation?

What bothers me is that a 'thought leader' in the Law Enforcement Community is using his position to set a tone- calling something supported by the vast majority of those he works for (the citizens of Michigan) a 'sham' legislation.  I recall the Bill Schuette 'Clearing the Air' seminars back in 2010.  Both the content and title of those seminars for local LEO and government was to mock the MMMA and find ways to work around it to accomplish their 'goals' of shutting it down.

 

It is time we hold them accountable and remind them who they work for.  Their job is to uphold the letter and spirit of the law, not to mock it.

Law enforcement will not ever willingly accept any part of our law that is right and fair in fact they do everything they can to create a aura of fear to do their best to discourage people from even joining the program in hopes that they catch them without a card and have an easier path to a conviction.
