New Cardholder - Confused About Rules, Etc

Recommended Posts

I'm soon to be new m2 cardholder - my paperwork has been mailed to Lansing. My cert paperwork was completed by my PM doc.

Anyway I'm confused about a few things:

I don't want a caregiver- can't I legally go into a dispensary and buy my m2? I don't understand the dispensary rules.

Is there a reporting database like the MAPS that records how much I'm buying? like prescriptions are monitored?

I see many ads on FB etc for online m2 ordering. Is it legal to order INTO MI if you have s card?

I'm thinking when I get my card I would just walk into a dispensary and buy what I need for my pain needs. But the more I read the more I'm mixed up lol!

Thanks in advance for any help.

caregivers are generally for people that want to grow plants but cannot either physically or due to location.

growing your own plants is way way way cheaper than a dispensary. although of course there is an upfront cost.

lets say it costs you $100 for 1 light, $100 for fan, $100 for carbon filter, $100 for worm poo dirt, $100 for water timer, light timer, automated watering system, etc. add $100 for seeds/clones, and $100 for electricity, for a grand total of $700.

10 plants x 2 oz yield = 20 oz

now you check dispensary price at $10-$20 per gram, lets go with $10.

20 oz = 566 grams.

566 grams at a dispensary will cost you $3000+. if you buy grams one at a time, $5660. usually there are discounts for buying whole ounces though.

so yeah, growing is way way cheaper.

also dispensaries are in a very odd grey market. some cities have them, some cities do not. so the only good source for meds will be caregivers in some areas of the state.

grassmatch is a caregiver and he says "My patients give me 150-225 per ounce "

so growing your own 20 oz would cost about $700-$1000, but if you bought from a caregiver like grassmatch, that would be $3000 again.

growing your own really cuts the prices down on the subsequent harvests.

so first year, you probably wont have to replace anything. it takes about 4 months for each harvest, so you can do 4 harvests in one year.

you'll find out soon. A proper caregiver will supply you with real good cannabis and a dispensary might too. No way of knowing where the dispensary mj comes from. I've long suspected if someone grew worthy cannabis there would be no need to sell it to a dispensary. That leaves us with a bunch of schwag that no kind patient would be willing to pay for-that's one take. Another is the fact that selling overages to a dispensary is illegal, part of a criminal enterprise. Criminals have historically provided us with crappy meds along the way, pesticides, crappy hidden environments, outdoor hay, etc. My experience with dispensary products so far has been negative, as it has for any patient I've registered who visited one. some are better than others. Downside is a caregiver may ask you too take delivery of ounces instead of grams at a time. I gift several grams per ounce with each delivery for thought, many caregivers I know do the same. Choose one with a few years experience.

My patients give me 150-225 per ounce depending on delivery frequency/requests. Nothing but world class marijuana is ever provided by me, anything less is fed to my rabbits. Over the years I've collected the genetics from all of the worlds best samples and continue to try new ones. Your first caregiver should be able to offer you great product all around, for the same cost each. More thc doesn't cost more to grow. schwag shouldn't be sold to the ill.

If money isn't an issue a disp. will work fine, just make sure you check all of it, and hope for good luck. I dont like disps. and feel there stuff is nothing but shwag, and over priced to boot. I grow my own, but i find it better than looking thru the scope and seeing a couple big eyes looking back at me.. lol

That was fast- thanks grass for the reply.

Why do people want caregivers? It seems to me it's just an extra expense . Another thing I don't get.

Steady supply of a particular strain.

Steady supply of a particular quality.

Distance to dispensary.

Cost.

Care factor, will a dispensary really give a chit about you?

I'd rather trust a growers knowledge of a plant over a budtender.

There are many reasons why you should have a qualified _care_giver.

$100 of lights yielding 20 oz?? That would be the highest gram/watt yield I've ever heard of, by far.

(And what kind of fan costs $100)?

Caregiver prices are almost always under the cost per gram via dispensary prices plus you dont get seen coming in and out of  any dispensary that are currently against the medical marijuana law currently in place most caregivers will deliver to your door or somewhere out of the eye of the public anonymity is important in most peoples lives when it comes to medical marijuana.

fantastic example, tooth-pain.  u shud be a teacher!  this is clear and shows how much less cash growing yer own requires.  stellar job.

grassmatch the caregiver trying to say how expensive it is to grow... hmmm

What? where did you get that from? trying to save his own job? I spend less than any other caregiver here I've found on monthly expenses. My up front costs were high, but that's got to do with my growing habits, not growing cannabis.

please show me where I say its expensive here ? maybe I did, you better hope so...

The caregiver comments now has made me think. I just assumed I'd get the license and go shopping in the store. Even though I checked the box that I would pocess the plants I guess I just didn't know enough. I'm on SSDI so clearly I don't have much money that's why I didn't want to spend another $25 for a caregiver- guess I need to rethink.

Keep the comments coming- I like learning :)

the mmma is a pt/cg system, there is nothing in the law about despensarry's, at this time they are not legal, yes alot of county's and city's dont close down despense's

The reason I have a c.g is for and uninterupted supply of mm that works for me, ( I wont go into price other than a c.g will cost you way less than a despense) you can as a pt grow your own, or appoint a c.g to grow for you, a cg can grow 12 plants per pt and have 2.5 oz's on hand for that pt.  a pt can grow their own, same rules, 12 plants and you can have 2.5 of cured ready to use mm,

Either way you can still purchase from despense or any one for that matter willing to sell it to you, A pt can get their mm any where w/o fear of arrest, the person selling mm to said pt will be arrested if they are not registered to that pt,  If you bought an oz in a back alley and got caught by po po the person selling it to  you would be arrested and technicaly you wouldnt!

I am a pt and I have a c.g,,,,,,,,,,I am also a c.g and I have a pt!

I can grow 12 plants for my pt and have 2.5 oz's on hand,,,,,my c.g grows 12 plants for me and has 2.5 on hand for me!

Well now Im sure your confused lol!

peace

A real inline fan will cost you a bit more than 100 bucks,  I have a 6" inline 424 cfm's or what ever, plus I had to buy an adjustment peice for it, if I run it full blast in completely sucks the walls of my tent in, almost to the point of collapse, I use to be foolish enough to think them lil 4" and 6" inlines at like 20 bucks a peice was good!  after the first week or 2 I was looking for a much better inline!
