Workplace Drug Testing

I had an interesting conversation with a probation officer from another state. He said employers usually only do drug testing to accommodate their insurance companies and that many no longer screen for cannabis because it is too difficult to find people to hire if they do.

 

This prompted a manager at a restaurant to chime in that he was told on his first day, "Never drug test the cooks!".

 

I wouldn't bet a job on this info, but I found it interesting.

I took a job once a few years ago, and was told the same thing, I joked and said "I guess i passed the drug test" to that i got the reply that if they didnt hire anyone that failed it they wouldnt have anyone to do the job.. ( welding job) btw.

I've had a talk with a Rep in Lansing about the workforce when cannabis becomes legal here in Michigan i know out in Co. their was a court case when someone was fired for cannabis use and it went to the High Court which ruled with the cable company
