Hillman Man Charged With Tax Evasion, Failing To File Tax Returns

I know of one dispensary that actually provides a receipt that shows a line for taxes. Note that

exemption for prescription drugs is limited to drugs for human use that can only be legally dispensed by prescription of a qualified licensed health professional. Aspirin and other over the counter medications will not be exempt from tax even if dispensed pursuant to a prescription or order of a qualified licensed health professional because they can be legally dispensed without a prescription.

which suggests that cannabis should not be taxable in Michigan since it is only legally available to a medical patient. Big problem, however, is that you don't actually get a doctor's prescription.

I imagine we'll have a 2-tiered structure like WA, CO, etc, when it's legalized, but at that point why shouldn't med users be exempt from paying any tax? I'm fine with 6%, however.
