We cruise in our black 1960's car in honor of all that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The suicide rate among Vietnam Vets  is nearly double the number of US killed in combat throughout the Vietnam WAR.  They are not alone as suicides from recent Wars keeps the suicide rate over double the national average.

 

  Largely due to their improper health care. re: narcotics for treatment of PTSD instead of much better solutions like cannabis. Denied again in 2015  because of Congress. However, things are slow to change and the human toll tremendous, their are renewed signs of progress this year.

 

 Side bar: MI finally added PTSD as a qualifying condition March 2014.  Far as I know this is the only qualifying condition added to the MMMP.

We recently watched a newscast from Greenfield Village where they have a Civil War encampment this weekend. The reporter asked a young boy if seeing it made him want to grow up to be a soldier, he replied yes it did.

 

Last week we took a ride through Elmwood Cemetery, where the Battle of Bloody Run took place in 1763. There is a section of Civil War dead and most of the dates on the graves are from the same year, 1864.

 

It made me wonder how excited the boy would be about becoming a soldier if he was taken to see those.

Shushhhh.  We don't tell our prospective soldiers the truth about war until after they pass draft age.  We just might need em fully deluded.

They're talking about making women eligible for the draft. That leads me to believe that the subject of reinstating the draft is coming up in legislative discussions.

 

Why else would they worry about who is eligible?

they were talking about making women register for selective servce. same thing men do at age 18 (or its automatic in some states).

 

no draft, just a pre-draft registry keeping track of young people for reasons
