Gary Johnson: I Quit Pot Use 5 Weeks Ago, Won't Use as President

Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson says he quit using marijuana five weeks ago and will not begin again, especially if he is successful in winning the White House in November.

Johnson served two terms as the Republican governor of New Mexico, but most recently has been the CEO of a marijuana products company.

"You said you used the company's products. Are you still?" panelist Charles Krauthammer asked Johnson during an interview Monday on Fox News Channel's "Special Report."

"Haven't used in probably five weeks," Johnson replied. "I have said I'm not going to as president. I don't think you want somebody potentially answering that red phone … then going forward, not using going forwards."

i.gif?e=eyJhdiI6MTIwMTI4LCJhdCI6MTMsImJ0Johnson said marijuana products compete for medicinal use with legal prescription painkillers that kill 100,000 people a year, though there is not one documented death due to marijuana.

"You weren't using it medicinally, were you?" Krauthammer asked.

"No, I was using it recreationally," Johnson said. "The unforgivable sin is hypocrisy, and I don't want to be a hypocrite."

While smoking cannabis does enhance contemplation, I agree. I believe you would have to be predisposed to violence with weaponry prior to committing to it.

No amount of cannabis could preclude that decision otherwise. In other words you would have to have other reasons to commit to the abhorrent activity, such as acquisition of assets, creating a demand/market for said weaponry and or political gain, etc...

peace... the final frontier

Thanks for feeding into the stereotypes, Mr. (not President) Johnson. An activist turned weak at the moment of truth, I guess?

I hate to be the one to say it, but you never had to worry about becoming President, Mr. Johnson.

true that!

I dont think I could do anything real well on my canna butter!  I get lost in my camper bath room,  I go to do something and get so distracted along the way, it usualy takes me an hr just to go find my sun glasses or something simple, Im not complaining it is an awsome lost lol!

I get like so totaly stupid for like 2 hrs and than I can function pretty much normal, I just cant seem to get my dosage wrong :blow-a-heart:  lmao!

Peace

Thanks Phaq for sharing your honest and very lucid interpretation / reconstruction of the sometimes seemingly overwhelming feeling most of us experience while trying to, or actually are enjoying  the effects of our favorite medicine.  Personally I am reluctant to even answer the phone sometimes. The thought of having to deal with the reality of another person ostensibly from another planet seems detrimental to my buzz and I know most of these things can be more effectively dealt with in another space in time. Besides that's what voice mail and answering machines were made for...if not possibly as a better alternative to the entire "Red Telephone" concept.
