Want To Move To Canada? Disabled? Think Agian.

It seems as though our neighbours to the north may not be as enlightened as many seem to think.

The relevant section of the act maintains that someone can be denied permanent residency in Canada if,

  • 38

    (1)
A foreign national is inadmissible on health grounds if their health condition
    • (a)
       is likely to be a danger to public health;
    • (b)
is likely to be a danger to public safety; or
    • ©
might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services.

This portion of the Act is a catchall which is used to summarily refuse residency to disabled people. It places a burden of proof that affects no other applicants as regards health. At least the first two subsections are dealing with immediately identifiable issues like whether a person is currently ill. The third however requires disabled people to prove that they will never be seriously ill or that their conditions will not deteriorate. While the wording suggests that the risk of expense must be reasonable to apply, in practice it becomes swiftly apparent that the presence of disability regardless of whether or not the individual is currently in need of expensive treatment or services or if those services might require alternate funding anyway.

There is no onus on a nondisabled applicant to prove that they will never contract cancer, experience a disabling accident or simply experience prolonged unemployment necessitating the use of social supports. This is however completely impossible to guarantee. It is also entirely impossible to prove that a disabled applicant will be a burden on the Canadian public.

There health benny's are not that great!

I watched a good friend of mine die of cancer in canada, this was in the 90's, his dr. could only spend like 250 k per pt, and that was not enough to use the cemo and radiation needed to get the cancer in remision, they even quit giving him meds for a few months a yr, It was the saddest thing I have ever witnessed in my life, At that time dr.'s were only allowed to make a certain amount of money per yr, I was friends with a few dr.s here in the states that talked about the canadian medicle plan, and when hillary tried to get it going here they were all against it, it would limit their personal income and limit what they could and couldnt do for their pt's!

One of my best friends has a cottage in canada, he bought it back when our money was worth like 36% more than thiers, he purchased a place across the street from lake huron with lake rights for 70k canadian which turned out to be like 40 k in u.s money, he got a great deal, now he cant give it away lol!  but it is a great place to vacation, we never had issues with their leo and we had some wild party's there,,,the locals loved us, as soon as 1 car got to the cottage the canadians were on it lol, we used to haul furniture out on the porch to fit the canadian bands that would come out of no where, what a riot,,,,

I sure hope they fixed there medical program, I havent been there for at least 20 yrs now!

Peace

I've never liked Canada. It's like the Twilight Zone, everything looks the same but it's all a little off.

If I was going to skip the country I'd go to Belize or Honduras.

You know what you're talking about. When I was younger, Costa Rica seemed like a good choice. Costa Rica has gotten expensive for ex-pats but is still a good place for old follks. But for the more adventurous, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Equador are good options.

If you learn conversational Spanish, you can live large in Latin America on about $1200/month.

And I was able to buy pretty good MMJ in Latin America for about $50/ oz.

I think id go to the netherlands.

Great place to live if you can afford the rent.

Myself, I don't like the climate. I'd prefer Medallian, Colombia. Land of the eternal spring. It's a little funny that people I know who want to exit the U.S. focus on Europe or Asia. Latin America is in our own backyard and has some awesome options for ex-pats.

I had a friend that retired to Belize when he was thirty. He's a vegetarian and grows all of his own food. At the time (early 80's) the per capita annual income was $300 for the average citizen. He bought some ocean front property and lives like a king. It's more expensive now that it's been discovered by the wealthy, there's lots of big money condos down there now. Still very affordable and the national language is English because it was a British colony. If you can guarantee a certain level of income from a foreign source (social security) then they grant you citizenship.

I've been trying to talk the wife into moving for a couple of years now, she doesn't want to leave the family behind but I think they'll probably visit frequently if Grandma is living in a tropical paradise. Maybe the post election rioting will convince her.

There's rioting now. Do you believe the hardcore Trumptards will take the loss in a reasonable manner?

Do you believe we're talking about reasonable people?

If Trump does win I'm sure he'll be the cause of some kind of civil unrest eventually. Maybe when he starts sending Homeland Security door to door checking Hispanics citizenship papers. Or when you have to start declaring your religion before you can enter the country.

Another Trump voter, Dan Bowman, told the Boston Globe: “If she’s in office, I hope we can start a coup. She should be in prison or shot. That’s how I feel about it.

“We’re going to have a revolution and take them out of office if that’s what it takes. There’s going to be a lot of bloodshed. But that’s what it’s going to take... I would do whatever I can for my country.”

How about election day violence? A very real possibility. Democrats have already sued in at least four states to prevent voter intimidation by the Republikans.

White nationalists plot Election Day show of force

KKK, neo-Nazis and militias plan to monitor urban polling places and suppress the black vote.

Neo-Nazi leader Andrew Anglin plans to muster thousands of poll watchers across all 50 states. His partners at the alt-right website “the Right Stuff” are touting plans to set up hidden cameras at polling places in Philadelphia and hand out liquor and marijuana in the city’s “ghetto” on Election Day to induce residents to stay home. The National Socialist Movement, various factions of the Ku Klux Klan and the white nationalist American Freedom Party all are deploying members to watch polls, either “informally” or, they say, through the Trump campaign.

The Oath Keepers, a group of former law enforcement and military members that often shows up in public heavily armed, is advising members to go undercover and conduct “intelligence-gathering” at polling places, and Donald Trump ally Roger Stone is organizing his own exit polling, aiming to monitor thousands of precincts across the country.
