Well, isn’t this an interesting turn of events in the Flint Water Crisis.

According the a Reddit user named ‘Bernie_Beiber’, Flint’s water is getting way better. For marijuana plants:

I grow MM and had to quit shortly after the first water switch because all of my plants kept dying. They would lock up with who knows what resulting in nutrient lock-out.

Other attempts in the meantime were all fruitless and the same thing would end up happening each time at various stages of growth.

Decided to start a new batch a month ago and they have never looked healthier before. The only difference is in the water. That tells me lead/heavy metal levels are down. The pH has been steady as well, it comes out of faucet right at 6.7, it varied by up to a few points either way during the interim.

Edit- I’m by Mott Park.

I know nothing about growing, especially marijuana, but is it possible that the water is getting better if this plant is responding positively? Is this an early sign of hope for the corrected water system? Granted, it is a very unconventional way to test the waters, but I’m up for anything that shows progress in this crisis. Thank you science — and weed.

Tell you what, I've always had a whole house filter because I never trusted the water to be perfect and stay perfect all the time.

So why play games with your plants and give them what 'the city' is dishing out on a daily basis?

Doesn't make any sense to me ....... risk a $1000+ crop, and a few months of your time, on unfiltered city water, when a filter costs $100.

I actually have a small filter on my grow water in addition to my whole house filter. I treat my plants better than I treat myself.

The deal with the Flint water that seems to be under reported is that it's not the same everywhere. You could live in a highly populated area and the water gets good circulation because of that higher usage. Or you could live where a lot of people moved away and have some stagnation issues. It takes a lot of use to circulate a water main. That's not going to happen in a neighborhood that's on severe decline like in Flint.

It's the water crisis behind the water crisis. It was happening before and it's just worse now. I'm not sure Flint will ever figure out how to supply consistent good water to everyone when the infrastructure was set up for a bigger population.
