cops were lying through their teeth, everyone knows it -- called a "pretext stop" where they use some nonsense excuse... .it is hard to prepare ahead of time for avoiding such things but any trailer hitch that is anyway in the line of sight of your plates should come off IF they impair anyone from seeing the entire plate from a vehicle behind ya... even from left or right angles.... personally, use a "drop hitch" (one that immediately bends down towards the road, and is not in the line of the plate, inches below it, BUT again, this was a "PRETEXT stop" as they probably knew He was carrying something and just had to justify the stop weeks if not months later when challenged -- make sure your vehicles are perfect, the best is a completely stock late model, with absolutely no add ons....check those lights and equipment before you even drive away -- walk around your vehicle, check the brake lights (brick on the peddle) and turn signals every time to minimize the chances of a blown bulb (that can happen at any time) . if your ever carrying a legal amount, MAKE SURE it is in a seprate container (pelican cases from Walmart work and are cheap) in the Trunk, or Bed of a truck, or the back of a minivan or the like without a trunk...a truck with a hard fiberglass cover that locks is best...with a case in there...does not have to be locked just a case......(idea is, I guess, that driver cannot access it from the vehicle) and finally, never smell like MJ, it sticks to clothes and hair, shower and change if you burnt.....big hassles but its necessary until we get it fixed or legal outright....

I too am sorry to hear it -- BUT, for one make sure you check ppl out first, meet, chat, burn one -- BEFORE you consider doing anything else....get a feel for someone (I am sure this forum is monitored and infiltrated as are all)....they have no compunction and have forged papers, gotten cards through the process, all to bust people....the MMA did little to change things unless you got $50k to fight them with good lawyers NEVER call the cops, don't use the courts, stay away from that completely, they are NOT going to help, and at worst they are going to go after you! Do not put yourself in that situation and be ready to walk away if your safety terms are not complied with totally - better safe than sorry.... Haven't you seen what has happened to everyone that has gone to Court? By and Far they got screwed and paid thousands in legal fees ... (I am not saying not to fight, quite the contrary, fight and never stop fighting ---but until things are right in Mich, we have to act in a manner appropriate to the situation, do NOT take chances, do not get desperate.... and do not put no ads on anywhere, you got to spend time meeting people at places first, put some time and effort into building a group of people you have got to know AHEAD of time (and even then probably 90% will let you down) go back to the old school methods, we are NOT at any type of safety for anyone in MedicalMJ - use only trusted associates who are intelligent enough to not screw up (and even more important got your back if the stuff hits the fan...can't do that posting ads

Know this is kinda old to respond to .... We all agree this nonsense needs fixed NOW and I think (hope) most here are active pressuring the Reps/Sen to support reforms as the Mich. Court of Appeals has eviscerated most of the protections in the Mich MMA, But If you ever have to have someone in to do repairs, claims, inspect. I would remove ALL grow equipment. I know personally it is a hassle and can do damage, but we have little choice these days. Even Consumers/DTE is the enemy now, and they are essentially part of the Gov., now as are many private companies. I think if you had done that before you had the claims guy over, you would not have the issue. Making sure you have H1 or H2 homeowner's coverage (which does not exclude much of anything) is needed. costs more but its necessary, As far as telling on yourself up front, not good idea - as you are screwing yourself given the current situation in 2016. Upgrading all home utilities that handle grows is a must-do especially wiring upgrades to atleast 20 amp. wiring (12ga) and maybe more, is in order with appropriate breaker panels -- everything -- which we know most people do not going to do upfront. Finally, owning your place is another thing -- renters have the issue of NOT having complete control over their property, as they do not own it, a landlord can and could consent to a search (which one never ever wants to consent to ANY search under ANY circumstances -- once they have that your cooked) Lastly, make sure you have a practiced plan to break down everything and advance plans where it will go to continue growing on a temp basis (and that place can handle the added load and stress) if you have to move it, as well as a utility van with card carry person to help as even transporting nowdays requires specific requirements to avoid any problems if pulled over in the process (which one would go to extreme measures to avoid any chance of). Finally, according to current COA decisions, even letting the Adjuster in would have been a violation - no? Only the card carry grower themselves is allowed in the locked enclosed facility ever - no one else can enter, so that is another reason just to move it, do the insurance stuff (and make sure you wait a few days after in case they need to come back) before you return every thing....yeah, it sucks, but better safe than sorry (and yes insurance companies have databases they ALL check with "intelligence" on insureds....anc claims.....I would have said eat the costs less than $1500-$2000 rather than risk making a claim, these days insurance should ONLY be used for major things, the days of them being fair are over.....

The mere possession of MJ was a felony in Mich before the MMMA -- so why have we even tolerated this "divide and conquer" crap of background checks...... We would all be locked up if they had it their way! So lets just end the scharade and say no to background checks -- isn't it interesting that had you done what We do now in 2015 in 2008 you and were caught doing the exact same thing we do now, you would be a felon -- QUIT PLAYING THEIR GAME -- end it all and get Legalization -- the sooner the better (and then We can see about a Ballot Init. to wipe out all Weed Convictions period.

WTF - Why is there a background check anyway??? We are abandoning the very people we profess to want to help - I could care less if they have a Felony -- this precise thing was a Felony before 2008. It is just another thing to divide us and we all need to be fighting it -- if " they" (Sen. Rick Jones and his ilk) had their way we would all be felons, so why are we playing this game of divide and conquer ? Do you not see what they are doing -- trying to split what should be a united front. Again, What does having a conviction have to do with chronic pain - do people that have convictions not have pain? I look over the posts here -- the one TOPIC that could end all this MMMA litigation (as the courts have betrayed the VOTE of 63% of the people in 2008 and made the MMMA unworkable). So the Legalization petition, MI Legalize, is obviously the answer (and ends all the Court stuff) --as LEGALIZATION ENDS ALL THE COURTS INVOLVEMENT !! BUT I DO NOT SEE IT AS THE TOP TOPIC -- WHY NOT? DO ALL HERE NOT WANT TO SEE MJ LEGALIZED? IF So, why is the topic not the top topic and being pushed ??? I also see one or two or three places in some cities for the Petitions (we need Hundreds) -- it seems again, lack of funding is going to sink the simple push to get MJ legalization on the ballot (in 2016). Michigan NORML did the same thing and the result was NO BALLOT VOTE ON MJ LEGALIZATION -- Why are We repeating the same thing over again? Why is no substantial funding being posted by NORML ? IF SOMETHING DRASTIC IS NOT DONE THE BALLOT PETITION, MI LEGALIZE, WILL FAIL -- 2nd time and same thing again - HIRE PAID SIG. GATHERERS The time is darn near over ii t is beyond clear what is being done now is not working --- volunteers cannot gather enough Signatures - so the question is - ARE THEY, MICH NORML, GOING TO PUT IN THE FUNDING NEEDED TO GET (PAID) COLLECTED SIGNATURES OVER CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS (by blanketing all the businesses where shopping happens, Malls, Restaurants, ect. out front with petition gathering people)?

#1 New Rule -- Get a Dash Cam and plenty of 32/64GB micro SD Cards (hard wire it to vehicle's power so only changing the SD card when you enter is required). My Car uploads to the cloud via cellular and/or open mapped WiFi == Make sure you can twist the DashCam camera lens to the drivers door almost pointing to the rear of the car (as you know LEOs stand by the pillar in case some nut shoots), AND RECORD. If it goes to cloud is the best as even if they take the card (which hey might, and think they defeated you), you have a copy when you get home on the cloud, or your buddies do to give to Atty.

Thought I would check back in on this thread as it is IMPORTANT - in reading over a few of the comments, analyzing legal decisions, even the MMMAct, takes skill and legal training (as with anything to do with law), it is not simple, sorry to say -- but someone summed it up nicely as to MMAct above: "12 plants, 2.5 ounces, no more than five patients, mouth shut...whats to ask right?" I would add a few, if holding ANYTHING transporting wise, Get and put it in a separate container (those pelican ones in Walmart work well) and have it in your trunk, back of truck, if minivan or SUV as far back you can get it in the opposite corner from driver, the idea I guess is to make it unreachable...stupid law.... but it is law thanks to our Legislature/Gov., and just so you do not get a ticket it's worth spending the $10 for a container ahead of time. I do not think it says locked container (in the text of the law, best check for yourself) ... so just a separate case. I Have one in the back of vehicle just in case I ever have anything so it is there - even if your legal and get let go, you could get a ticket for violating this so spend the money, get a case, and put it in the back of your vehicle so it is there IF you need it. Obviously, one should never, ever, ever, consent to any search. period. Never should reek either as that is the #1 reason - carry some spray colone, better than nothing. Visine too. Lastly on the topic here, the best thing someone could do is to get to know your local MMLaw Lawyer BEFORE anything happens. Most people are not going to put a retainer down, so just knowing someone, them knowing you is good - Most Legal pros are busy, so you have to do some work in your location and find out - worse comes most will meet for free for 120-30 minutes about a case, so you could do that. Knowing the law and compliance is your number one thing, so make sure you get advise from someone legally connected, not uncle joe who read two sentences (out of context) and thinks He knows the law....and did I mention NEVER ever consent to a search (they ask why, you say you do not waive Constitutional Rights people died to give you....usually shuts them up (plus its true)....many people died defending what We have, so do not be flippant. Being pulled over is serious stuff. Now, as to a legal insurance. Not in Michigan, but the best thing you can get is "LegalShield" is a great program. I can sell it --- IN fairness their are several out there but none as good as Legal Shield. for the money it is well worth it (*but get to know your local MM Atty too)....never can have too many choices....anytime your in court you need representation or at least someone who has training/exp. Better yet then buying stand-alone legal shield, is to get your HR Dept. at offer it at work as a work benefit (as they can get it cheaper for 10, 40, 75 people than alone). I can do that too - PM me. I have had it for years and it does save money for legal stuff - most people just forgo legal stuff thinking they do not need it, you do need it. And if the precise thing you need is not covered explicitly, like criminal cases, it is covered under the discount section and it works IT WORKS PEOPLE -- just having a lawyer to call, ect..is a good thing. Even traffic tickets are 500-1000 if you do not have this so the old adage pay now or pay more later somewhat applies. LASTLY most of US do not have the legal things We need to begin with -a Will/ and basic child care paperwork, a Trust if you own real property. If you have kids Dad and Mom, should have papers for treatment/care in case the caretaker needs to act medically without a parent -- all this needs legal documents (and the ones on the internet will cause more problems than they solve), A Will should spell out things in case you pass (happens every day) and who gets what you have as going to probate court is pointless if you do not have much -- all and all, the US population, less than $100k income, is the LEAST served by the legal community as these basics should be in everyone's "legal papers" file with deeds, titles, ect., with copies off site (Parents/Brother/Sisters House? and vice versa), AND in a fire/waterproof box. Pre Paid Legal (now called Legal Shield) does cover some legal issues/costs, but excludes criminal charges in most of the plans benefits but fills in other areas. I have it, glad to sign you up, $25 month, but if you think it covers everything you would be mistaken....and you need to maintain it monthly so $25 x 12 months, every year but the benefits can add up Bottom line - better than nothing (and even having a law firm to call in a pinch is worth the fee... probably filled the forms in wrong (BTW they are not "...denied for MMJ...", but the forms from the State were sent back and they usually note what the issue is in the cover letter.. M

if you, or anyone, does not like how things are --- get to work changing it -- volunteering, working with others half-hour a day with like minded people to implement new things that would work (we have a const. one must be aware of) between now and next election - then electing like minded people will help (and getting rid of those that won't) and it can change everything , not easy and not fool proof but one person can change everything .....determination and making sure all your friends vote... also, no armies or much pro bono anything is out there (can you pro bono anything) so get that out of your heads, its a 1 in 10,000 odds.....it takes hard work and money....main problem is 20-30-40 year olds do NOT vote is the masses the 60-70-80 year olds do and many of them are brainwashed.... furthermore, the MM Law is a prime example that IF the powers that be do not like a law the people pass, they will do everything they can to slow, obstruct, and just cause chaos of that law (reason enough to never support such a person again)...the MIch MM LAW is not poorly written as it is pretty good looking at some other states (like Hawaii, 3 plants.....) but is not perfect either..... THE most important local elections one can work on is your local prosecutor, and Judges -- as they seem to get re-elcted no matter how good, OR BAD, job they do, because no one puts out the facts on them unless it is someone running against them -- how nice would it be if your local MM people kept track of each local judge's rulings and published it a month before the elections --- finally, lets hope Michigan's newest Sup. Crt. Justice Bernstein will shake things up not only for MM, but for many things -- as they have made falling down on crappy sidewalks covered with ice, a non-suing issue in MI (nt to mention a dozen other injuries anyone could get and no one in Mich can even go to court about -- they need changed along with most of the crt. of appls...it takes US to do this by educating others in the months leading up to elections (and the rest of the time paying attention to what they do and recording it for use 3 yrs. 7 months later ..... It takes all of us doing a little each and every day - many hands make light work on massive projects.... FYI M

as many as your wallet can afford.. .it would NOT be reasonable to attempt to limit "lights" for MM card carrying people --of course, unless they limited everyone else's lights too (that would go over well I bet) -- equal protection under the law = got to treat people equal (protection under the law).....soo, they cannot, generally, (attempt to) enact laws targeting one group .... for educational purposes only....
